Construction Company Connecticut
Concrete Connecticut

Joseph Olmstead is the founder of Olmstead Contracting. Billy Olmstead is the founder of East Coast Concrete. These two brothers decided to merge their companies together but, for business purposes, thought it would be best to work under the name of Olmstead Contracting.

Joe started in the construction field right out of high school working for a local construction company as a laborer. He gained a lot of excavation experience during these years. At this time, he was also working side jobs helping his uncle install septic systems, which added another layer of construction experience. It was then that he and his friend, also named Joe, decided to start their own paving company, J & J Paving, which began operation in 2000.

Joe worked his successful asphalt company until 2007, paving roads, driveways and parking lots when he branched off from his partner to form Olmstead Contracting. By the time he started Olmstead Contracting he already had extensive experience working in all aspects of the construction field. He became a licensed septic designer and installer and the rest of the story fills the pages of this website. Joe is extremely talented when it comes to designing and installing septic systems.

Bill's early years of excavation experience and his twenty years of experience working with concrete have added another dimension of expertise and quality workmanship to Olmstead Contracting.

That's not all to the story. When Joe and Bill came together, as partners under one company, they bought two buildings next to their current office location. Now, they offer indoor bays and outdoor parking spaces to rent for heavy equipment and recreational vehicles. For more information Click here.

It was while working with concrete that he decided he wanted a career change. So, after four years of Aeronautics College, Bill said goodbye to being a pilot and said hello to starting a concrete company. In the year 2000, East Coast Concrete came into existence.

Bill has extensive experience installing every type of concrete from foundations for new construction, decorative concrete, such as stamped concrete, acid-stained concrete floors, dyed concrete, concrete flatwork, installing ADA-compliant handicap ramps, steps, patios, pool decks and more. He has perfected his technique installing decorative concrete and also makes his own stamps.

Bill also worked at a local construction company right out of high school, but wanted to become a pilot, so he attended The College of Aeronautics School in New York. During summer breaks he worked for a concrete company that specialized in foundations. He worked every summer at this company digging the hole, forming, pouring, backfilling and waterproofing foundations.
